Carlie Sobol

I grew up in the small town of Forsyth, IL. For 15 years, dance was one of the largest parts of my life and early on I fell in love with the way dance allowed me to express myself. I was dancing both competitively and non competitively as well as assisting and teaching dance. After I graduated high school, I went to Belmont University in Nashville, TN to study Entrepreneurship. I found myself surrounded by people with different morals and values. Grasping for connection I found a church and a yoga studio. Immediately hot power vinyasa yoga became my escape from school and my replacement for dance. I love the way my body speaks in yoga how self expression looks differently on every body. In hindsight there was one vivid moment while I was practicing when i heard this tugging on my heart saying to leave. I was on my mat in child’s pose. Tears flooded my eyes and started dripping on my mat. I heard this voice in my head telling me to leave. I pushed it away and told myself it was unrealistic and I needed to suck it up. Fortunately God kept it on my heart and I unexpectedly transferred to Harding University, sight unseen, after my first semester of my freshman year.

To this day I truly believe transferring was the best decision I have made. Harding University has become my true home and I have God to thank for giving me a passion for yoga when He did. When I first moved to Searcy, yoga was hard to find, so I made it my goal to become a certified instructor so I would never have to go without yoga. Nutrition, health and yoga are all areas I cannot get enough of. I am thankful to call yoga my passion because it teaches not only physical health, but mental and emotional health as well. I believe yoga allows me to get out of my easily-consumed mind and into my body to accept myself the way I am, while simultaneously keeping me striving to be better. I hope that I can share that with those who choose to practice alongside me. Yoga has transcended every aspect of my life and I will be forever grateful for nooma and my nooma family.
